The GSD Intern ProgrammeAmong universities the world over, the GSD Intern Programme is exceptional. Located as it is in the most diplomatic neighbourhood on the planet, GSD succeeds in placing most of its students in internships in the immediate neighbourhood – with a national Mission to the United Nations, with a governmental organization such as the UN itself, the UNHCR, the WHO, the WTO etc, or with one of the many leading NGOs in the vicinity. The Geneva School of Diplomacy neighbourhood is home to more than 190 international organizations – governmental and non-governmental. The key to an Internship is to be ADMITTED to GSD: every student admitted to the university will immediately be considered for an Internship. There is, therefore, no better place in the world to begin, or continue, a career in International Relations, International Law or International Economics than on the beautiful GSD campus itself. By way of example, the first half of 2009 saw the Czech Republic hold the rotating Presidency of the European Union. No less than six GSD Interns helped the Mission of the Czech Republic to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva meet its heavy schedule of diplomatic meetings and conferences during the six-month period. GSD Interns thus gain serious hands-on responsibilities and experience at the highest professional level. Internships are unpaid – but immediately kick-start a student’s networking opportunities in the international arena. And Geneva, with its very high standard of living, is a most comfortable and beautiful place in which to study! With a waiting list for GSD Internships, applicants to GSD degree programmes are advised to apply early.
