Prof. Badara Samb

PhD, Public Health, Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris, France).

After beginning his career as a Field Assistant for UNICEF and a medical doctor in Senegal, Professor Samb worked with the WHO and the French Institute for Scientific Research and Development Cooperation (IRD, formerly ORSTORM) studying measles and measles vaccines. From there he moved to the French Institute for Medical Research (ANRS), working as a senior researcher and epidemiologist for much of the 1990s.

During this period, Professor Samb also served as an Associate Professor of Public Health at the University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris. In the late 90′s, he started a career in the UN system, first at the Joint United Nations Programme on AIDS (UNAIDS) and later, the World Health Organization (WHO) where he is currently responsible of external relations and resource mobilization in the Department of HIV. He is listed in WHO’s Who in Medicine and Public Health.
